The City of Fort Bragg and the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District partnered together in July 2012 to re-open the C.V. Starr Community Center. This facility will soon become your favorite thing to do while visiting the Mendocino Coast. Here you will find healthy fun for everyone.
[vc_column_text]Many community members and visitors take advantage of the fitness room fully equipped with treadmills, step climbers, elliptical machines, recumbent bikes, weight machines and free weights. In the two fitness studios a variety of classes are offered ranging from Spin to Zumba to Yoga and more. All classes are available to members and non-members on a drop in basis.
The highlight of the facility is the Sigrid and Harry Spath Aquatic Center, which is without a doubt the finest aquatic facility on the North Coast. The Spath Aquatic Facility is a 21,372 sq. ft. natatorium with 2 indoor pools. It is here that you can swim laps in the 8 lane competition lap pool, float in the last river, play in the leisure pool, or go down the large indoor water slide. All ages and abilities will feel comfortable playing and exercising in the beach entry leisure pool.
There are two small multipurpose rooms adjacent to the pools that are filled almost every weekend with children celebrating birthday parties. These rooms are also busy during the week with small community groups, meetings, adult classes, youth classes and toddler programs. If you are hosting a retreat, workshop or special event inquire about the availability of these rooms.
If you are traveling with your dog we also have two off leash dog parks on-site, one for large dogs and one for small or shy dogs. The community center has a 10,000 square foot skate park. There is also an outdoor space with a sun deck, BBQ, and picnic tables. The property also has two petanque courts and rents petanque bouls.
Please come and enjoy our wonderful recreation facility where you will find healthy fun for everyone all year long.[/vc_column_text]
